ข่าวคราวมาตั้งแต่ต้นปี 2552วันนี้ Intel ได้นำออกมาเผยแพร่ให้สื่อมวลชนจากทั่วโลกได้สัมผัสกับประสิทธิภาพและเทคโนโลยีใหม่ที่จะเป็นมาตรฐานพอร์ตเชื่อมต่อความเร็วสูงในอนาคต ซึ่งตามข่าวเขาอ้างว่า USB 3.0 นั้นเร็วเป็น 10 เท่าของ USB 2.0 เลยทีเดียว โดยในการทดสอบที่จัดขึ้นในงาน IDF ครั้งนี้พบว่า ในการคัดลอกข้อมูลขนาด 27 GB จากฮาร์ดดิสก์สู่ฮาร์ดดิสก์ผ่านพอร์ต USB 3.0 นั้นมันใช้เวลาคัดลอกเพียง 70 วินาที เท่านั้น (นาทีกว่าๆ) ส่วนเจ้า USB 2.0 นั้นต้องใช้เวลาถึง 15 นาที เลยทีเดียวถึงจะคัดลอกข้อมูลได้สมบูรณ์
